Pakistan quotes gold per tola. Buyers search per gram. Here is every weight in between, priced across four purities, with the conversion explained underneath.
Gold price per gram in Pakistan, from half a gram to one tola
One gram of 24K gold in Pakistan is PKR 44,061 as of 25 August 2026, and every other weight is a multiple of that figure.
| Weight | 24K | 22K | 21K | 18K |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.5 gram | 22,031 | 20,180 | 19,277 | 16,523 |
| 1 gram | 44,061 | 40,360 | 38,553 | 33,046 |
| 2.5 grams | 110,153 | 100,900 | 96,384 | 82,615 |
| 5 grams | 220,306 | 201,800 | 192,767 | 165,229 |
| 10 grams | 440,611 | 403,600 | 385,535 | 330,458 |
| 12 grams | 528,733 | 484,320 | 462,642 | 396,550 |

Is one tola 12 grams?
No. One tola is 11.6638 grams, and the 12-gram figure is the most common mistake in Pakistani gold pricing — common enough that “gold rate in Pakistan today per tola 12 gram” is a real, high-volume search.
The tola is not a rounding convention. It is a fixed standard, set at exactly 180 troy grains when the British administration standardised it in 1833, and the same unit is used across Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. It is what a jeweller means by “per tola”.
The gap is 0.3362 grams, which sounds trivial and is not:
12 grams of 24K = 528,733
1 tola of 24K = 513,920
Difference = 14,813
How to work out any weight of gold yourself
Two operations, both doable on a phone, and every number in the table above comes from them.
Step 1 — get the gram price
Divide the tola rate by 11.6638.
513,920 ÷ 11.6638 = 44,061 per gram (24K)
Step 2 — scale for purity
24K is pure gold, so its multiplier is 1.0. Every other purity is a fraction of it.
| Purity | Multiplier | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 24K | 1.0 | 99.9% gold |
| 22K | 0.916 | 91.6% gold |
| 21K | 0.875 | 87.5% gold |
| 18K | 0.75 | 75% gold |
So 5 grams of 22K is 44,061 × 5 × 0.916 = 201,800. If one gram is the only weight you need, 1 gram gold price in Pakistan covers that case in more detail, including how to sanity-check a quote without a calculator.
Why the international gold rate never matches a Pakistani one
A third unit enters the moment you look at a global chart. International markets quote gold in US dollars per troy ounce, and the reference price the rest of the world works from is the LBMA benchmark in London. One troy ounce is 31.1035 grams, or about 2.67 tolas.
| Unit | Grams | Used where |
|---|---|---|
| Gram | 1 | What buyers search for |
| Tola | 11.6638 | What Pakistani jewellers quote |
| Troy ounce | 31.1035 | International benchmark |
A global headline price and a Sarafa board price therefore look unrelated while describing the same metal: three units, plus the rupee-dollar rate, plus local premium. Converting between them is arithmetic, not mystery — international versus Pakistani gold rates works through it.
What a jeweller will actually charge you
Every price in the table above is the value of the metal, not the price on the bill. Three things sit between the two.
- Making charges. Typically 8–15% on jewellery, and usually the biggest gap between the rate you looked up and the amount you hand over. On plain coins and bars it drops to roughly 2–3%.
- Purity risk. A piece sold as 22K that is not 22K costs you the difference on every gram. Ask for certification, and watch the piece go on a digital scale.
- Buy-back spread. What a shop will pay you when you sell is below the market rate. Ask what that spread is before you buy.
Can you buy gold in small amounts in Pakistan?
Yes, and small weights are where most first-time buyers start. Gold coins are sold well below a tola, with 1 gram the smallest common size, so nobody needs PKR 513,920 in one place to own gold.
The obstacle is timing rather than the weight. A 10-gram purchase at PKR 440,611 in 24K, or even 5 grams at PKR 220,306, still asks for a large sum on one day, at whatever rate applies that morning.
Paying a weight off in fixed monthly instalments with the rate locked at the start — a gold committee, starting at 1 gram — removes the lump sum and the rate guess together.
