If you have searched “oraan committee real or fake”, this post is written for you. It is the fair question to ask, and the honest answer is longer than yes or no — so here is the whole mechanism, fee ladder included.

What is an online committee?

An online committee is a savings pool run on documentation instead of trust: everyone contributes the same fixed amount every month, the entire pool goes to one member each month, and it repeats until everyone has been paid once. The same structure is a beesi, a kametti, a BC, or in the textbooks a ROSCA.

The arithmetic is flat: ten people paying PKR 10,000 a month for ten months each pay in PKR 100,000 and each take out PKR 100,000. What an online committee gives you is two other things:

Why do traditional committees fail?

Traditional committees fail because trust is the only thing holding them together: cash-based, undocumented, and the organiser holds every rupee and every record.

Pakistani press has reported a Karachi committee organiser who collected from hundreds of contributors, mostly women, with no written records, then announced she could not pay and abandoned her home — figures reported in the hundreds of millions of rupees. An Islamabad organiser absconded with committee savings in 2015.

The quieter failure is structural: a member who has already collected their payout has every incentive to stop contributing, and only social pressure stops them. When an undocumented committee fails, there is no contract and nowhere to complain.

How does an Oraan Committee work, step by step?

An Oraan Committee runs in five stages, and the choice that decides your cost is the first one.

Stage What happens
1. Choose the shape Duration of 5 or 10 months, a monthly instalment from PKR 3,000 to PKR 50,000, your start month, and — the important one — your payout slot
2. Get verified 18 or over, CNIC and a selfie, references or guarantors, a credit check through Tasdeeq (a Pakistani credit bureau) and an Oraan score. Approval takes 3–5 working days
3. Pay monthly The same instalment every month for the full duration
4. Collect in your slot month The pool is transferred to you net — instalments still outstanding from you are deducted first
5. It closes Once every member has been paid once, the committee ends

Verification is the part people find annoying and the part that protects them: every other member of your pool went through the same check. In a WhatsApp committee, nobody checked anyone.

What does an Oraan Committee cost?

An Oraan Committee costs a service fee charged monthly as a percentage of your monthly instalment, and the percentage depends entirely on which payout slot you take. It falls the later your slot is, and the last slots are free.

Payout slot 10-month committee 5-month committee
1 21.0% 10.5%
2 19.0% 9.0%
3 16.5% 7.0%
4 13.5% 0%
5 10.0% 0%
6 6.0% —
7 2.0% —
8 0% —
9 0% —
10 0% —

Taking a late slot costs nothing; taking an early slot is what you pay for. Take slot 1 of a 10-month committee and you receive the full pool in month one, then spend nine months paying it back while the other members wait. Take slot 10, having funded everyone else, and you pay zero.

So the question is not which slot is cheapest — that is the last one, free — but how much having the money now is worth to you.

A worked example

A 10-month Oraan Committee at PKR 10,000 a month, slot 3:

What happens if a member stops paying?

A member who stops paying an Oraan Committee faces a documented consequence rather than a group argument, and which one depends on whether they have already been paid.

Situation What happens
Instalment more than 15 days past due An amount is collected as charity and disbursed to a government-registered charity. Oraan does not keep it — it is neither interest nor revenue
More than 30 days without paying, after a payout The committee is terminated for that member, the full outstanding amount recalled, legal action can follow, and the default is reported to the credit bureau
You cancel within 3 business days of joining 100% back
You cancel before your payout month Instalments back, less management fees and any charity amount
You cancel after your payout No refund — you have the pool, and the pool has to come back

All refunds are processed after the 20th of the month. A credit-bureau record matters more than it sounds: it follows someone to every bank and lender in Pakistan — the deterrent an informal committee has no way to create.

Is an online committee safe, and is Oraan regulated?

Oraan Tech Pvt Ltd is an SECP registered company, NTN 5039622-0, operating since 2018. Oraan Committees have been reviewed for Shariah compliance by Safwah Shariah Advisory, with Mufti Usama Ehsan, and a Shariah certificate exists specifically for Committees. Credit checks run through Tasdeeq.

To be direct about what this is not: Oraan is not a loan app and does not lend cash — stated twice in Oraan’s own app release notes. A committee is your own money, pooled with other people’s, coming back to you in a different order.

No committee removes the risk that another member defaults. What a documented one adds, before anyone joins a pool, is a signed agreement, a verified identity, a guarantor and a credit file on the line.

Service fee percentages are Oraan’s published ladder as of 9 September 2026 and apply to your monthly instalment, not to the pool. Confirm your own slot, fee and net payout figure before you commit.

Common questions

Is Oraan committee real or fake?

Oraan Tech Pvt Ltd is an SECP registered company, NTN 5039622-0, operating since 2018, and its committees run on a signed agreement with verified members rather than on trust. Credit checks run through Tasdeeq, a Pakistani credit bureau, and Oraan Committees have been reviewed for Shariah compliance by Safwah Shariah Advisory with Mufti Usama Ehsan. What no committee can remove is the risk that another member stops paying — a documented one adds a contract, a guarantor and a credit file to discourage it.

How much does an Oraan Committee cost?

An Oraan Committee costs a service fee charged monthly as a percentage of your monthly instalment, and the percentage depends only on which payout slot you take. On a 10-month committee it runs from 21% at slot 1 down to 0% at slots 8, 9 and 10. On a 5-month committee it runs from 10.5% at slot 1 down to 0% at slots 4 and 5. Taking the last slot means the committee costs you nothing.

Does a committee grow your money?

No. A committee returns exactly what you put in, so it is a timing benefit rather than a growth one. Its two real uses are discipline, because a fixed monthly commitment is much harder to skip than a personal savings plan, and timing, because one member receives the whole pool in month one instead of month ten. Anyone selling a committee as a way to multiply money is selling you something else.

What happens if someone in the committee stops paying?

An instalment more than 15 days past due attracts an amount collected as charity and disbursed to a government-registered charity, which Oraan does not keep. A member who goes more than 30 days without paying after already receiving their payout has the committee terminated, the full outstanding amount recalled, legal action possible, and the default reported to the credit bureau — a record that follows them to every bank and lender in Pakistan.
